First Video Challenge: FOCUS

Your Challenge will be to shoot 10 seconds of Video, Five in Focus and Five out of Focus.

I want to see how well you are able to control focus on this your first video project.

For this assignment, you will be graded on the following.

1. Ability to show control of focus.

2. Ability to show control of blur.

3. Use Rule of thirds on your subject.

4. Must have subject moving from foreground to background IN FOCUS THE WHOLE TIME.

4. Story, plot, light, does not matter, only FOCUS and RULE OF THIRDS.

5. Once you have exported your video, upload video to either youtube or Vimeo, then copy and paste the URL of this project as a comment to the comment field below.

2. View & Respond to Today’s Tutorial: Video Basics. Respond to the post with a comment written in word, in complete sentences, spell-checked to perfection.

Introducing RawScripts!

In this class you will be using RawScripts to create your screenplays for the Conversation with Mulitple Camera Angles Project.

The format is the same as we saw in the Slideshow Tutorial. The drop down menu below is how you tell Rawscripts what part of your script you are working on, and how you want it formatted, as seen below.


Parenthetical means anything that appears in Parenthesis, like I did with Voiceover below. You can also indicate the mood of the character. Crying, sobbing, shaking, pleading, begging, etc. Any information the actor needs to be able to act out this scene according the vision of the director.

How to Export your Video (With Slides)

This slide tutorial will show you the steps you need to take in order to export your FOCUS video assignment.

Step 1: WITH YOUR TIMELINE SELECTED click on the following, File/Export/Media.

Step 2: This will launch the Export Settings window.

Step 3: Click on the down arrow by FORMAT. Choose H264 from the list, see image above.

Step 4: Click on PRESET, Choose YouTube 1080p 29.97 from the list, see image above.

Step 5: In the Export Settings window, click on the link next to Output Name. This is where you will save it to your computer.

Step 6: Save it to YOUR F: DRIVE, not to the desktop, save it to the VIDEOS FOLDER.

Step 7: Click the EXPORT button to do a final export.
